ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certification (Region V): heat pumps that hit HSPF2 8.1+ and retain 70%+ capacity at -15C. Required for top-tier Save on Energy rebates.

ENERGY STAR Cold Climate Certified is a tier within the broader ENERGY STAR program that targets heat pumps suitable for Region V cold-climate operation (which includes all of Ontario). Requirements: HSPF2 8.1+ and 70% or greater capacity retention at -15C ambient. The Save on Energy Home Renovation Savings program ties its highest heat pump rebate amounts to this certification. The ENERGY STAR Most Efficient list is a further subset within Cold Climate certification representing the top performers each year.
