AHRI Certified

Certifications and Programs - HVAC Costs pillar

Also known as: AHRI certification, AHRI matching

Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute certification. Validates that a specific outdoor + indoor coil + furnace combination delivers its rated efficiency.

AHRI Certified is the rating verification program run by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute. Manufacturers submit specific equipment combinations (outdoor unit + indoor coil + furnace match) to AHRI, which independently tests and certifies the combined SEER2/HSPF2/EER ratings. Save on Energy and Greener Homes rebates require AHRI-certified matched systems. The AHRI Reference Number is a 7-digit code on the certificate that contractors must provide for rebate applications. A mismatched outdoor and indoor system, even from the same manufacturer, is NOT AHRI-certified and does NOT qualify for rebates.
