Federal program offering interest-free loans up to $40,000 over 10 years for qualifying home retrofits. The grant arm closed but the loan continues.

Canada Greener Homes is the federal home-retrofit program administered by Natural Resources Canada. The Greener Homes Loan offers 0% interest, 10-year repayment, up to $40,000 toward heat pumps, insulation, windows, solar PV, and other qualifying upgrades. Eligibility requires a NRCan Registered Energy Advisor pre and post EnerGuide assessment. The Greener Homes Grant (which paid up to $5,000 in cash) closed to new applicants in 2024 but the loan remains active. Stackable with provincial Save on Energy rebates.
