Also known as: R2000, R-2000 home
Natural Resources Canada's premium new-home certification: deeper than ENERGY STAR for New Homes, requires under 1.5 ACH50 airtightness and an HRV.
R-2000 is Natural Resources Canada's premium voluntary new-home certification, originally launched in 1981 and substantially updated in 2012. Standards include EnerGuide rating of 86+, blower door tested under 1.5 ACH50, mandatory HRV with verified balanced flow, and material/water-efficiency requirements beyond the building code. Less common in Ontario than ENERGY STAR for New Homes due to higher certification cost, but commands a 4-7% resale premium according to NRCan-cited studies.
